Experimental Work Inspired By OFF-WHITE c/o Virgil Abloh

This two-page spread expresses my own rendition of the designs created and used by Virgil Abloh throughout his work on collection for 'OFF-WHITE'. The pages consist of a simple line drawing of a models silhouette, one of either sex - I chose this as Abloh blurs the line between sexual differences that can be easily spotted through clothing garments today, and through this he diminishes a border between the two by having similar designs and logos for each gender. 

The silhouettes are then covered by parallel lines, my own version of the bold graphics Abloh created and uses in his own work, I created my own design by forming a stencil in card and spray painting onto my own drawings. 

This work shows my development and experimentation with what I have studied on Abloh and OFF-WHITE  and allows me to explore these type of designs as well as incorporate them into my future work. 

OFF-WHITE c/o Virgil Abloh Artist Study

The following double-page is an artist study on the fashion designer that embodies the majority of my A Level Art coursework; Virgil Abloh.
Within this study I expressed why I had chosen to incorporate Abloh into my work as an up and coming fashion designer; from his work, experiences and influences as an architect to his ever-changing designs and even his work with musicians, all of which play a big part in my own admirations.

The page consists of a body of text exploring Abloh's work within fashion and architecture, touching upon the influences behind his work as well as his target audience and the aim behind his creations. I also speak about the influence of Miles Van Der Rohe's Farnsworth House on Abloh's designs.
The right side of the spread is made up of a series of pictures of two of Abloh's debut designs as a designer as well as a blueprint of Farnsworth House that Abloh draws upon throughout his designs; as seen by his use of parallel lines. Also visible is a recreation of the key element in Abloh's Spring/Summer 2015 collection influenced by street signs and architecture.

Introductory A2 Title Page + Annotation

The hypothesis of my title page embodies the chosen theme for the entirety of my coursework; 'Luxury Fashion and Society' which allows me to develop into how luxury fashion is branded by society but also allows me to examine the influences of luxury fashion on society itself.

The most notable feature of my title page being the three silhouette figures at the foreground of the page, these depicting stances of models associated with fashion, of which my theme revolves around.
The blue parallel lines surrounding the models and the hypothesis are influenced by one of my key artist/designer studies being the growing fashion label Off-White created by Virgil Abloh. The bold and vibrant lines representing the influences of typical street signs that inspired Abloh's debut collection.
The blue-print located in the background of the title page is visible to represent architecture and how fashion also has an effect on modern day creations and society.

The aim of this coursework along with what I have made present in the title page, will be a study on luxury fashion and the society around us of the modern day world, I will be studying various artists, designers and architects while simultaneously experimenting with creations of my own influenced by my studies.
